Heatwave

With the government issuing the red weather warning for Monday and Tuesday this week with extreme high temperatures, the Diocese has asked us to share the following advice:

It is vital to stay out of the heat over the next few days, and keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm. When outside, walk in the shade, apply sunscreen and wear a hat and light scarf. Have a bottle of water with you at all times and avoid extreme physical exertion. Wear light, loose‑fitting cotton clothes. Keep your environment cool by closing windows and shading them during the day (though take care with metal blinds and dark curtains as these can absorb heat). Open windows at night when the temperature has dropped. Turn off non‑essential lights and electrical equipment, even equipment on standby, as they generate heat. Move bedding and sleep in the coolest room if you can.
