A Christening (or Baptism) is for those who understand the huge promises that parents and godparents are required to make for those who are not yet old enough to make these promises for themselves.

As a parent, you are making the promise to bring your child up in the Christian faith, until they are old enough to make that decision for themselves.

We usually hold Christenings on the third Sunday of the month after our services, usually around 12:15pm.

For families that do not regularly attend St Mary's Hitcham, we like to meet with you to discuss what is right for you and your child and then ask you to attend a preparation session.

Firstly, congratulations on your engagement and your decision to get married!

This is an exciting time for you and your fiancée, we hope that we can be of service to you as you start this exciting journey together.

If you, or your fiancée, live in the Parish of St Mary’s Hitcham, it is normally possible for your marriage to take place here. If you don't live in the Parish you may still be able to get married here, you can find more information about the criteria for getting married in a Church of England church here.

The church holds marriage in very high regard, so if you do decide to get married at St Mary's Hitcham, after you have confirmed your marriage date with us, we expect every couple to do a short marriage preparation course (normally half a day) which will help to better prepare you and your fiancée for your new life together.

If you are getting married in another church and need your Banns of Marriage to be read, please contact us. Be sure to leave plenty of time, at least 3 months before the wedding day.
