KIDS & FAMILIES

We’re really glad you’re here - or thinking about coming along.

Bringing children to a church for the first time can feel a little scary (Will it be weird? Will my kids be too loud? Do I have to know the words to anything?). So let’s get the main thing out of the way first: come as you are. You don't need to do anything, know anything, or be anything in particular.

Children are welcome at St Mary’s - the noisy one, the shy one, and the one having a meltdown by the door.

Julie and her team look after everything to do with children and families at St Mary’s and she’d love to say hello.

KIDS CHURCH

Sunday MORNINGS AT ST MARY’S

When: The third Sunday of every month, during the 9am service. Weekly from January 2027.

For: All children, ages 4 to 16

On the third Sunday of the month, we start our 9am service all together with a song the children can throw themselves into, before they head off to Kids Church in the Parish Room for stories, crafts, games and fun. If it's your first time, you’re very welcome to go with them.

On other Sundays, children are welcome in the main service alongside you. From January 2027, there’ll be groups for children every Sunday.

ROOTS & SHOOTS

TODDLER GROUP

When: Every Monday, 9.30am

Where: Parish Room, St Mary’s Church

Toys out, room to crawl and play, and a chance for the little ones to make friends and wear themselves out. A hot drink and a sit-down for the grown-ups. No need to book - just turn up.

Roots & Shoots Café

When: The last Saturday of the month, 9.30–11.30am

Where: St Mary’s Church

Cost: £1.50 per child, capped at £3 per family

More of the same: soft play, craft and all the toddler toys - plus homemade cakes, biscuits and proper coffee for the grown-ups to buy. Again, no need to book - just come along, and bring the whole crew.

Other things through the year

Alongside our regular groups, we have one-off family events dotted across the year - a summer party in the holidays, the Christmas nativity, and assorted seasonal bits and pieces. We post what's coming on our Facebook page, so do check it out!

The easiest way to find out what we’re like is to come along. But if you’d rather ask a few questions first, Julie would be very happy to hear from you.

Say hello!
